Installation

WARNING! Refrigerator is heavy; use two people for moving. Ensure water connection is tight to prevent leaks.

First-Time Setup

Power on refrigerator; allow 24 hours for temperatures to stabilize.

  1. Set temperatures: Use control panel to set fridge to 37°F and freezer to 0°F.
  2. Prime water system: Dispense 2 gallons of water to clear air from lines.
  3. Install water filter: Remove cap, insert filter, twist clockwise until it stops.
  4. Set door alarm: Enable/disable via control panel settings.
  5. Activate Sabbath mode if needed: Hold "Light" and "Filter Reset" for 3 seconds.

Connecting Water Line

Required for ice and water dispenser operation.

  1. Turn off main water supply and connect approved tubing to cold water line.
  2. Route tubing to refrigerator location (avoid sharp bends).
  3. Connect to refrigerator inlet valve at back (usually bottom left).
  4. Turn water on and check for leaks at all connections.
  5. Flush system by dispensing water for 2 minutes.

Tip: Use GE SmartConnect™ kit for easiest installation. Ensure water pressure is between 30-120 psi.

Using the Dispenser

Provides chilled water, ice cubes, and crushed ice.

  1. Select ice type: Press "Ice Type" to toggle between cubes and crushed.
  2. Dispense ice: Press glass against ice paddle; release to stop.
  3. Dispense water: Press glass against water paddle; release to stop.
  4. Child lock: Press and hold "Lock" for 3 seconds to disable dispenser.
  5. Replace water filter: When indicator light flashes, twist old filter counterclockwise to remove.

WARNING! Do not use dispenser without water filter installed. Keep children away from dispenser to prevent accidental activation.

Temperature Management

Optimal food preservation requires proper temperature settings.

Recommended Settings: Refrigerator: 37°F, Freezer: 0°F. Convertible Drawer: Use Meat (30°F) for fresh meat, Deli (37°F) for cheeses, Beverage (34°F) for drinks. Door Alarm: Sounds after 5 minutes if door is ajar; disable in settings. Vacation Mode: Raises fridge temperature to 55°F while keeping freezer cold.

Care & Cleaning
